Peli BioThermal has revealed its new single use shipper in an exclusive preview at the recent Life Science Cold Chain & Temperature Controlled Logistics event, which was held in Brussels.
Following the successful launch of its Chronos™ Advance range in 2014, Peli BioThermal has revealed another new product, utilising phase change materials and high performance foam insulation to give consistent temperature stability in excess of 72 hours. The new product, scheduled for a full launch in Q4 2015, will be available in 6, 12, 28, 56 and 96 Litre capacities, covering temperature ranges
+2C – +8C and +15C- +25C. The new product will offer consistent temperature stability in excess of 72 hours, whilst achieving industry leading payload to external volume ratios.
Quick, error-free packing is achieved by using simplified components and phase change coolants which are interchangeable with other Peli BioThermal products. In addition, hibernation can be achieved at any point whilst in transit by placing the shipper into control range storage, which will result in longer temperature compliant shipments.
The event was attended by senior members of the cold chain logistics industry from across Europe, who enjoyed a series of presentations covering the key topics, including GDP and supply chain integrity, operational excellence, cost reduction and temperature monitoring. Peli BioThermal also featured in a lively roundtable debate, discussing a reliable method of selecting temperature controlled packaging.
Hosted by Design Engineer Richard Wood, the presentation considered the current methods of calculating the effectiveness of packaging, for instance packaging performance against a set profile, before introducing the concept of the ‘Kelvin Hours Principle’. This principle calculates a predicted control duration, by considering estimated thermal stress and the average temperature of the shipping lane, to give a more reliable criteria to select against. The advantage of using this form of calculation is consistency. By using a standardised procedure and taking in to consideration the temperature variations across a long shipping lane, for instance Europe to Australia, a more reliable solution can be found.
Paul Terry, Peli BioThermal Sales and Marketing Director, said: “We were thrilled to be able to offer delegates in Brussels a preview of our forthcoming product and we are very excited to reveal how the Peli BioThermal range is evolving”.
“This latest reveal follows our successful introduction of Chronos™ Advance to the global market and we were delighted delegates were impressed with our latest addition. This latest product development reinforces our commitment to offering the most robust and efficient temperature controlled packing solutions for the cold chain market in Europe and globally.”
