SCHOTT Pharmaceutical Systems

SCHOTT Pharmaceutical Systems is a leading supplier of primary pharma packaging and analytical lab services. We provide quality solutions while meeting the highest demands. Our product portfolio includes ampoules, syringes, cartridges and vials as well as various polymer solutions. Our production facilities and products comply with the highest international standards for pharmaceutical needs.

Glass syringes – syriQ® sterile and syriQ® bulk
syriQ® sterile syringe sets are ready for the filling process. They are packed in nests for easy handling and filling. All glass syringes are available with luer lock, luer cone or with staked needle. syriQ® bulk syringes are available with or without staked needle and are delivered in trays.

Polymer syringes – SCHOTT TopPac®
SCHOTT TopPac® syringes are made of COC (cyclic olefin copolymer). The ready-to-fill polymer syringes are break resistant, light weight, and transparent with a glass-like appearance. The high moisture barrier of COC high-tech polymer enables the long-term storage of drugs even in small containers. SCHOTT TopPac® syringes are a highly suitable packaging for many pharmaceutical applications.

Leveraging its extensive COC material expertise, the company now offers customers the opportunity to co-create a cylindrical COC container around an existing device. The material’s high design flexibility allows customized containers according to the new dimensions and, for example, manufacturers of wearables to reduce the size or adapt the form of the wearable.

Vials
SCHOTT offers a broad range of glass vials from 1 ml to 100 ml with different neck finish designs (crimp neck or screw neck), with European or American blowback or without blowback. They are available in clear or amber SCHOTT FIOLAX® glass. This is a pharmaceutical borosilicate Type I glass with best properties in terms of chemical (e.g. hydrolytic) resistance and stability of medicines. The vials are offered in the quality options TopLine and StandardLine – all according to European Pharmacopoeia, US Pharmacopoeia and Japanese Pharmacopoeia.

adaptiQ®
With adaptiQ®, SCHOTT unveiled a new concept of ready-to-use pharmaceutical vials, which consists of a nest and tub configuration that allows for as many as 100 pre-sterilized vials to be securely fixed inside a holder (nest). The patented nest design allows vials to be subjected to all of the processing steps while inside the nest, even freeze-drying, weighing and crimping. Besides simplifying the process, adaptiQ® reduces the risk of glass-to-glass contact and scratches through glass-to-machine contact.

SCHOTT’s next generation of vials
SCHOTT’s next generation of vials are made of FIOLAX® CHR borosilicate glass tubing, featuring a controlled hydrolytic resistance. Combined with the right converting process, the vials support a superior extractables & leachables profile. Moreover, the vials include the company’s validated delamination controlled production process. Low leaching out of the vial’s wall near bottom and out of the bottom lead to an unmatched drug stability making it suitable for biologics, high potent drugs, vaccines and so-called low-fill applications.
The offering will also enable an improved TCO through more efficient processing on fill & finish lines. This is achieved through flawless glass quality from tube to container by optimized processes and improved dimensions for perfectly shaped geometry. Lastly, a low-friction outer surface reduces any sticking or climbing effect on the filling lines ensuring smoother line operations.

SCHOTT Vials DC – Delamination Controlled
SCHOTT Vials DC represent an improved packaging product for pharmaceutical companies interested in lowering the risk of delamination. The company optimized its manufacturing process to ensure that SCHOTT Vials DC have a more homogeneous surface and high chemical stability.

Coated Vials
Coated vials from SCHOTT are designed to ensure that the formulations remain stable during shelf life. Through the company’s Plasma Impulse Chemical Vapour Deposition (PICVD) coating technology, ultra-thin coating layers are applied to the inner surface of the container as a SCHOTT TopLine option.
SCHOTT Type I plus® vials possess an inside SiO2 coating to significantly reduce the interaction between drug product and container surface.
SCHOTT TopLyo® vials with hydrophobic coating enable a practically complete removal of liquid drugs. Its distinct properties makes freeze drying more efficient.

Cartridges
SCHOTT is a leading supplier of pen cartridges and special solutions like double chamber cartridges in the range of 1 ml up to 10 ml volume. Cartridges are available for pen injection systems, for anti-diabetes therapy such as modern and human insulin or GLP-1 formulations as well as for other biotech applications.

Ampoules
Ampoules offer a special benefit: The medication is in contact with glass only and the packaging is 100% tamper-proof. Made of clear or amber SCHOTT Fiolax® glass tubes (borosilicate glass of type I), our ampoules are manufactured in accordance with the highest quality standards. They are available from 1 ml to 30 ml and in tailor-made solutions for specific quality requirements.
Through an improved manufacturing process with an innovative cutting technology, SCHOTT manages to produce ampoules within the ‘perfect breakforce’ range and eliminates outliers. These new SCHOTT Ampoules easyOPC offer a consistently equal opening behaviour for more safety, reliability and efficiency.
