[Munich, Planegg, 16.05.2024] – PELOBIOTECH GmbH is happy to announce
organizing the first conference “Advancements in Animal-Free Research and
Translational Medicine” in Munich/Gräfelfing. Scheduled for June 27, 2024, this
conference aims to spotlight novel non-animal approaches vital for progress in
translational medical research. The Munich Cell Specialist PELOBIOTECH distributes
one of the broadest portfolios of 2D&3D cell culture systems, cell culture products
and media.
The conference will start with an overview of the development and validation of
serum substitutes. “Paving the way for ethically sound alternatives is crucial today for
scientific advancements”, said Dr. Lothar Steeb, Co-CEO&CSO PELOBiotech. In
addition to getting insights on the principles of cell culture and stem cells,
presentations will focus on applications and hands-on experiences in the lab. “We
are happy to have gained so many experts from the scientific community to offer a
great networking opportunity beyond their research fields”, said Dr. Peter Frost, CEO
PELOBIOTECH GmbH.
The focus of the conference is on networking and collaboration between scientists
and experts in the field. An organized face-to-face lunch and breaks with the
speakers will provide ample time for an exchange of views and further questions. A
panel discussion with concluding remarks will provide an opportunity to ask for final
follow-ups.
Attendees can expect an overview of numerous innovative applications throughout
the day. Highlighted topics include serum-free media and serum alternatives, the
translational applicability of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles
(MSC-EVs) in therapeutic contexts, the utilization of human adipocyte spheroids for
obesity research, and the scalability of cardiac organoids for preclinical applications in
cardiovascular research and pharmacology.
PELOBIOTECH’s CEOs, Dr. Peter Frost and Dr. Lothar Steeb, will kick off the
conference, followed by presentations from speakers such as
- Prof. Dr. Gerhard Gstraunthaler, Institut für Physiologie der Medizinischen
Universität Innsbruck, emer - Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Bernd Giebel, Institut für Transfusionsmedizin,
Universitätsklinikum Essen - PD Dr. Kurt Pfannkuche, Faculty of Medicine, Universität zu Köln
- Dr. rer. nat. Anita Wagner, Lehrstuhl für Molekulare Ernährungsmedizin,
Technische Universität München (TUM) - Dr. Flavia Rezende, Center for Molecular Medicine, Goethe-Universität
Frankfurt - Dr. Raquel Sousa, abc biopply, Cham, Switzerland
Discussions will extend to include classic 2D cell culture to 3D humanized multiorganoid systems for disease modeling and pharmacodynamics, illustrating their
potential for simulating complex disease states and therapeutic interventions. For
