Innojet and Kilian at interpack 2017 Well-positioned with processing solutions

At the upcoming interpack 2017 Romaco Innojet will unveil the newest VENTILUS® technology for drying, granulating and coating fine solid particles. The Romaco Kilian STYL’ONE Evolution tableting robot, too, has been upgraded with a whole set of innovative features. New Romaco Innojet VENTILUS® LE series A new series of the tried-and-tested VENTILUS® technology for production scale applications has just been launched by Romaco Innojet right on time for interpack. The LE – for Light-Edition – can be supplied in three different versions: LE-D, LEG and LE-C. The LE-D series is specifically intended for drying processes while the LE-G is designed for granulating fine solid particles and the LE-C for coating them. Furthermore, Innojet continues to offer the established Premium Edition integrating all VENTILUS® process steps and features. With the new, modular VENTILUS® processing machines, the technology can be deployed exactly according to requirements. The Premium machines, for example, allow the ROTOJET – the central bottom spray nozzle – to be exchanged and cleaned without interrupting operation. Different coating liquids can be applied in this way during a batch process without having to discharge the product. Users who simply require the VENTILUS® in order to dry the fluidised bed are very well served by the low-cost LE-D version. Romaco Innojet can also provide integrated solutions for wet granulation with an upstream high-shear mixer as well as systems for wet and dry milling. All components are connected to the VENTILUS® LE-D fluidised bed dryer via an enclosed material transfer system. Control, data recording and cleaning of the Romaco Innojet processing line take place centrally. Romaco Innojet will show the VENTILUS® V 100 LE-C, which combines all three processing steps – drying, granulation and coating – at the upcoming interpack page 2 of 5 2017 fair. It contains the same core components as the Premium Edition with a central ROTOJET spray nozzle and an ORBITER booster. The rapid, homogeneous distribution of the spray liquid helps achieve shorter processing times and improved product quality. The solid particles are fluidised extremely gently in a controlled process based on the innovative air flow bed technology developed by Dr. h.c. Herbert Hüttlin. The production scale systems in the VENTILUS® series are designed for batch sizes from 40 to 1,600 litres. Larger batch volumes are possible on request. VENTILUS® V 5 with IHD 5 hot melt device The VENTILUS® V 5 enables Romaco Innojet to strengthen its position in the laboratory sector. This versatile processing machine dries, granulates and coats powders, crystals, granules, pellets and micro-tablets of any size from 10 µm to 2.0 mm in batches from 1,500 ml to 5,000 ml. Users in the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries have trusted in the VENTILUS® series of laboratory scale systems for many years now. Thanks to the homogeneous flow conditions in the container and the scalable spray rate, the technology is equally suited for both process development and scale-up tests. Furthermore, the new VENTILUS® V 5 can be monitored wirelessly and remote controlled using mobile devices. This simplifies daily work in the laboratory because the lab technicians retain full control over the process even if they are no longer in the immediate vicinity of the machine. The innovative Innojet IHD 5 hot melt device for pharmaceutical applications will be another highlight of this year’s exhibit. This CIP capable device complies with all GMP requirements for coating and granulation with organic waxes and fats. The fact that there is no evaporation during the hot melt process is a crucial advantage. The processing times are up to 85 percent shorter as a result. What’s more, since there is no need to heat the air in order to dry the product, energy efficiency is improved. The IHD 5 features a design with all components – including the valve block, dosing unit and melting container – integrated in a compact, block-like housing. This makes it easy to connect the mobile device to the VENTILUS® V 5 whenever this is called for by the formulation. All laboratory equipment in the VENTILUS® V 5 series can simply be fitted with the spray heater which is essential for hot melt applications. Heating the spraying air to 120°C prevents the coating liquid from cooling down in the feeding channels and page 3 of 5 clogging the spray nozzle. The pulsation-free application of the pharmaceutical hot melt coating ensures outstanding precision and product quality. Romaco Kilian STYL’ONE Evolution tableting robot The newest generation of Romaco Kilian’s STYL’ONE Evolution single-stroke press has been upgraded with a whole set of innovative features. The compression cycles have been speeded up by more than 60 percent and the maximum compression force increased to 50 kN in order to simulate high speed presses. Compression force profiles for all standard rotary presses like the Romaco Kilian KTP 420X can now be determined at full power. ANALIS, the intelligent PAT software, calculates all relevant tableting parameters based on compression force or displacement controlled cycles. The remarkable precision of the test batches means powder properties can be analysed very realistically. This scalable tableting robot can thus be utilised not only for R&D projects but also to optimise existing processes or troubleshoot errors. The redesigned STYL’ONE Evolution achieves a maximum output of 1,750 tablets per hour in configurations for mono-layer, multilayer or core tablets. The new models have a fully interchangeable process worktable, which is especially recommended if the products in question are highly abrasive. Moreover, cleaning and maintenance of the Romaco Kilian STYL’ONE Evolution are now much easier owing to the status lamps and utility connections integrated in the machine frame. The single-stroke press also has a lower height, so that it fits upright through all standard door sizes and can be transported easily. On show at interpack in Dusseldorf/Germany from May 4 to 10, 2017 (Hall 16, Stand D15).
