N4 Pharma Assembles New Senior Leadership Team to Deliver Breakthroughs

Derby-based N4 Pharma, a biotech company developing Nuvec® to enable advanced therapies for cancer and other diseases, has announced the formation of a new senior leadership team.

The team is composed of experienced consultants in drug development, commercial strategy, and pharmaceutical manufacturing, and will support the Board in advancing Nuvec®’s development and building commercial momentum.

Nigel Theobald, chief executive officer of N4 Pharma said: “The Senior Leadership Team that we have formed to help us swiftly deliver on our strategic and scientific goals is a world-class group of consultants with extensive experience in drug development, manufacturing and commercialisation. These appointments bring essential expertise to advance the Nuvec® platform towards our goal of commercial partnerships as well as build a pipeline of novel, highly valuable RNA therapeutic concepts for N4 Pharma to develop in-house.”

The new team includes Dr Fiona McLaughlin as head of research and development.

An experienced oncology drug developer, McLaughlin brings over 25 years of experience from roles at GSK, Avacta Therapeutics, Bayer, Antisoma, and BTG.

She has a PhD from Cambridge University and a BSc in Biochemistry from Glasgow.

Dr Mark Edbrooke joins as head of strategy. With a background that includes 25 years at GSK, where he led functional genomics and therapeutic nucleic acid teams, and three years at AstraZeneca’s oncology division, Edbrooke now advises a range of biotechs and investment firms, including roles at Argonaute RNA Ltd. and Deep Genomics.

Dr Simon Bennett has been named commercial director. With nearly three decades in the bio-pharma industry, Bennett has worked with more than 70 companies, supporting licensing, business development and fundraising.

He has contributed to over 80 commercial deals and previously held a Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford.

Dr Margaret Courtney will lead Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC). A consultant with more than 25 years of experience, Courtney has worked across biotech and pharma organisations, advising on drug delivery systems and managing contract manufacturing arrangements.

Theobald continued: “Each member of the Senior Leadership Team brings deep expertise and a proven track record in their respective fields. Their involvement with N4 Pharma on the development of Nuvec® is a strong endorsement of the progress to date and a clear demonstration of confidence in its future potential. The Board looks forward to their valuable guidance as we continue to unlock the full potential of Nuvec® as a novel delivery platform to enable advanced therapies for cancer and other diseases.”
