- Nemera’s pen injector platform verified with SCHOTT Pharma’s cartriQ®3 mL ready-to-use glass
cartridge system - Compatibility testing confirms seamless and reliable integration of delivery device and primary
packaging, ensuring optimal device performance and patient safety - Partnership supports growing demand for patientcentric injectable therapies in homecare settings
To support the industry shift from hospital to homecare including a more convenient drug administration for
patients, Nemera, a world-leading provider of drug delivery device solutions and combination product
services, and SCHOTT Pharma, a pioneer in drug containment solutions and delivery systems, have
strengthened their partnership to provide pharmaceutical companies with a reliable, fully verified platform for
injectable therapies.
“As healthcare increasingly moves closer to patients, pharmaceutical companies need to combine drug
containment and delivery from the outset,” says Christian Mias, CEO of SCHOTT Pharma. “Together with Nemera, we are helping them address this growing demand through a proven and compatible platform solution.”
“Our collaboration with SCHOTT Pharma reflects our commitment to providing integrated drug delivery
solutions that help simplify development and accelerate time to market”, says Marc Hämel, CEO of Nemera. “At
Nemera, we believe that strong partnerships are essential to helping pharmaceutical companies bring
combination products to patients more efficiently.”

Strategic partnership to address evolving patient needs
As therapeutic combination products require seamless integration between the delivery device and the
pharmaceutical primary packaging system, Nemera’s and SCHOTT Pharma’s partnership supports optimal product performance as well as patient safety and comfort.
With more than two decades of experience in high-volume manufacturing of pen injectors and autoinjectors,
Nemera offers a comprehensive portfolio of proprietary pen injector platforms developed with full intellectual
property ownership. These platforms are designed to accommodate a broad range of prescription therapies,
address diverse patient needs, and are manufactured in Nemera’s state-of-the-art facilities using advanced
automation technologies.
At the same time, SCHOTT Pharma’s cartriQ® ready-touse (RTU) glass cartridge system, manufactured from
FIOLAX® Type I borosilicate glass with controlled hydrolytic resistance, is specifically designed to meet the
demanding requirements of pen injectors, autoinjectors, and pump systems. Its robust mechanical resistance,
excellent cosmetic quality, and tight dimensional tolerances support precise processing and reliable device
functionality. Quality is ensured through 100% camera controlled inspection, while geometric tolerances exceed
ISO 13926-1 standards and can be further tightened for highly demanding applications.
Precisely controlled inner and outer diameters of the cartridge contribute to improved manufacturing
robustness, enhanced visual inspection performance, and greater dose accuracy. In particular, tightly controlled
inner diameters help minimize overfill losses in multidose applications, while advanced defect detection capabilities support cartridge integrity, sterility, and overall product quality.
Verified compatibility reduces risk and accelerates development
A comprehensive study was conducted by Nemera’s laboratory in Poland on the mechanical and chemical
performance of 3 mL cartriQ® RTU cartridges.
The evaluation focused on critical performance parameters, including break-loose and gliding forces
(BLGF), as well as inorganic and organic leachable profiles, following accelerated aging conditions. Testing
was performed in accordance with recognized industry standards, including ISO 21881 and ICH Q3D guidelines.
To further assess compatibility, additional assessments covered dimensional accuracy, filling volume
performance, air-bubble evaluation, and density measurements. SCHOTT Pharma’s glass cartridge system
met all predefined acceptance criteria, demonstrating excellent compatibility with Nemera’s pen injector
platforms and providing high confidence in the combined solution.
The successful completion of these evaluations confirms the full technical compatibility between the respective
products from Nemera and SCHOTT Pharma. Pharmaceutical companies can therefore benefit from a
commercially available, verified integrated solution that accelerates development timelines while mitigating
technical risks associated with combination products. Together, Nemera and SCHOTT Pharma are committed to
supporting pharmaceutical partners with high-quality, reliable solutions for injectable drug delivery—ultimately helping patients access treatments that are safe, effective, and easy to use.
