On Wednesday 7th November, the House of Lords EU Energy and Environment Sub-Committee will publish its report Brexit: chemical regulation.
The UK’s current arrangements for chemical regulation are rooted in a cross-EU system known as REACH, which ensures chemicals on the market are safe to use. In its report, the Committee have highlighted the consequences leaving this system could have for an industry worth £12.7 billion to the UK economy.
The Committee also identify steps the Government must take to ensure chemicals are regulated safely after Brexit, and in a way that allows chemical trade between the UK and EU to continue.
Embargoed copies of the report will be available to the media from the Lords Press Office on Tuesday 6th November, embargoed until 00:01 on Wednesday 7th November.
